The original branch of Napoli sta ca is deservedly famous for their stuffed-crust "Don Salvo" pizza in the shape of an eight-point star. This newer, slightly fancier outpost is located in the upscale Azabudai Hills shopping complex, and offers an expanded menu of mains and appetizers to supplement your pizza.
The most popular menu item still seems to be the Don Salvo, and it's a sound choice. The eight points of the star are filled with spicy salami and creamy ricotta, while the center is topped with Buffalo mozzarella and fresh tomato sauce. The crust is chewy and flavorful. There are ten other pizzas as well, with appetizing creations like the "Nord a Sud" (gorgonzola, mozzarella, pistachio powder, pear jam) and the "Bacca-qua Bacca-la" (mozzarella, salted cod, rocket salad, anchovy mousse).
While waiting for our Don Salvo we enjoyed a very satisfying platter of five assorted appetizers of the day, featuring a well-rounded selection of Italian deli items. You can also order individual starters (arancini rice balls, Burrata Caprese, Octopus Carpaccio) as well as a full array of pasta dishes. Mains include home-made salsiccia sausage, an Acqua Pazza poached fish of the day, and wagyu steak.
Groups of pizza connoisseurs may be interested in the chef's pizza-tasting menu (from Y10,000), which features one slice each of five different pizzas, served at the counter for parties of three or four.
There are a couple of wines served by the glass, and presumably a wine list upon request. Water is bottled only, with your choice of still or sparkling. If you're in the mood for a bit more after your pizza, there are traditional Italian desserts like cannolis and tiramisu, and home-made limoncello.
The indoor "terrace" dining area is lively but not too noisy for conversation, with tables arranged bistro-style. Budget around Y7,000-10,000 for food and drink at dinnertime, which includes a Y550 cover charge. Weekday lunches average around Y4,000.
