We've been to a lot of Tokyo pizzerias, and Gonzo stands out among them for its warm, cozy atmosphere. The spacious dining area is lively without being raucous, and service is friendly and personable.
The pizzas themselves are well prepared, with a pleasantly chewy, very tasty crust and ample toppings. They serve sixteen varieties, ranging from simple Marinara and Margherita to elaborate production numbers like the Supremo (Mozzarella, Chicken Ragu, Porcini Crema, Cherry Tomatoes, Arugula, Walnuts, Red Wine Sauce, Garlic, Black Pepper).
As Gonzo is a trattoria as well as a pizzeria, you'll find a comprehensive menu of starters (Gorgonzola Mousse, Proscuitto), pastas, fish (Calamari, Seafood Carpaccio), meats (Grilled Lamb Heart, Pork Saltimocca) and desserts. There's an entire menu section devoted to vegetable dishes.
The wine list offers more than thirty bottles from Europe and the New World, nearly all priced in the Y4,800-10,000 range. Italian liqueurs and grappa are ready for after dinnner.
Budget around Y5,000-6,000 for food and drink at night. The restaurant is open all day long, so you can enjoy a late lunch at your convenience. There's open-air seating during the warmer months.
