Sometimes a menu looks so good that you just want to order everything on it. The "Hokkaido Special" soup curry here is the next best thing. Your bowl of spicy soup comes fully loaded with pork belly, grilled lamb, a braised chicken leg, one plump scallop, and twelve kinds of vegetables. Hokkaido-style chicken karaage and an amazing garlic-flavored fried broccoli are served in a dish on the side so they stay crisp. It's a real feast!
Rojiura is renowned for their tasty farm-fresh vegetables and for their endlessly customizable bowls. Choices start with the soup, which comes in six varieties, incorporating various permutations of chicken and pork broth, miso, soy milk, coconut milk and vegetables. Choose from eleven levels of spiciness, starting with "0" (none) and "1" (normal) and escalating from there. Rice portions range from none to extra-large (450g), with several stages in between.
If you're not quite hungry enough for the "everything" option, some alternate main-ingredient choices are chicken leg, pork, twenty vegetables, and natto pork-keema curry. Of course there are numerous optional toppings, of which the "charred cheese" may be the most intriguing. Drinks include home-made lassi, yuzu lassi and craft cola.
Rustic-looking wood furnishings and weathered concrete elevate the decor a step above the usual curry-shop counter, making this a pleasant spot for a sit-down dinner or a leisurely lunch. Prices are quite reasonable considering the quality as well as the sheer volume of food.
