This neighborhood mom-and-pop shop serves some of the best Balinese food in town. Their Gado Gado is outstanding - fresh-tasting vegetables in a powerful, distinctively flavored peanut sauce that's tuned to just the right level of spiciness. Balinese-style kakuni is a big bowl of tender stewed pork in a thick, well-spiced sauce that brings out the rich meatiness of this dish.
Mutton skewers are pleasantly chewy and flavorful, with yet another well-crafted spicy sauce that complements it perfectly. Even the tiny starter plate of pork rinds is a cut above average, and not the least bit greasy.
Drinks include Bintang beer, wine by the glass, lime soda and other soft drinks. The small dining room is quite lively, with comfortably separated tables. The window seats looking out onto Gaien-Nishi-dori are especially attractive.
Budget around Y3,000-4,000 for food and drink at dinnertime. Note that lunch may end early if they run out of ingredients.
