Located in the quiet back streets of Omotesando and running for more than two decades, this trendy little cafe qualifies as a neighborhood institution. They stay open a bit later than their neighbors if you're looking for a late-night dessert or a quick drink, and lunch hour runs until 5pm. The attractively appointed interior is surpsingly big, including a long and narrow, brightly colored basement dining room.
The huge dessert selection is one of the main attractions here, with numerous varieties of freshly made cakes, fruit tarts and other pastries. Kuma Chocolate, a chocolate brownie fashioned in the shape of a bear and served with ice cream, is a popular favorite.
Lotus's extensive lunch menu is another draw. The menu covers a lot of ground, featuring burgers, banh mi sandwiches, pastas, grilled meat dishes, Kyoto-style grilled salmon teishoku, and avocado toast. Lunches are available to take out, as are the cafe's pastries.
