This commuter-friendly, underground branch of the popular Italian chain includes an imported food market, a cafe, a casual wine bar, and a full-fledged pizza- and pasta-centric restaurant, all located just steps away from the Marunouchi subway and JR Tokyo Station.
If you're in a pizza mood there are a dozen well-prepared varieties to choose from, among them Cinque Formaggi; Burrata; Pescatora (mussels, crab, shrimp and squid) and Macellaio (mortadella, ham, panchetta, salsiccia). The pizzas' crusts are very flavorful on their own, and come in your choice of thin ("Sottile") and regular ("Classica") versions.
The restaurant also offers a full roster of fish and meat main dishes like Acqua Pazza, Grilled Pork, Roast Duck and Veal Cutlet. The dining area is quite lively during dinner hour, but quieter in mid-afternoon. An eight-seat counter overlooking the kitchen can accommodate solo diners comfortably.
The very casual wine bar next to the restaurant offers wines by the glass (from Y880) as well as cicchetti plates (Venice-style small appetizers), larger appetizers, panini sandwiches, and wine-tasting flights. If you just want a dessert break, you can pick up canolis and other pastries along with espresso, tea and tisanes at the cafe counter and grab a small table.
The market is open from 9am, while the other components open at 11am. Budget around Y3,000-4,000 for dinner at the restaurant, or Y1,000-2,000 for lunch.
