This popular US restaurant chain is known for California-style pizzas with creative combinations of toppings. They also offer a full menu of casual American comfort foods along with budget-friendly wines, frilly cocktails and mocktails. Kids ten and under have their own special menu with smaller portion sizes.
The Kawasaki branch serves 17 different pizzas, and they provide a novel change of pace from the more commonly found Tokyo Neapolitan style. Among the "CPK Originals" is their famous BBQ Chicken Pizza, introduced at their Beverly Hills branch back in 1985 and still one of their most popular combos. Tasty chunks of chicken are slathered in a slightly sweet BBQ sauce and complemented by red onions, fresh cilantro, smoked Gouda and optional crispy bacon.
Carne Asada is another original, built around marinated steak and livened up with a nice salsa verde. Wild Mushroom incorporates cremini, shiitake and white mushrooms along with Romano, mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
Then there are "classics" such as Cheeseburger (ground beef, caramelized onions, mozzarella and cheddar, with a "secret sauce") and Mushroom Pepperoni Sausage. Several varieties are made with a thin, crispy crust, including the three-meat Sicilian (Italian sausage, spicy Capicola ham and salami in a spicy marinara sauce).
One tip for ordering - optional add-ons here like crispy bacon for the BBQ Chicken and truffle oil for the Wild Mushroom usually add something extra to a pizza, and are generally recommended.
If for some reason you're not in the mood for pizza, you can opt for alluringly described mains like the wagyu cheeseburger with smoked bacon and truffle ketchup; spicy mac 'n' cheese topped with Korean BBQ kalbi; and Cedar Plank Salmon, served with sweet corn and spinach topped with Feta.
