The kakigori at Shimura can be ordered on the second floor, above the traditional sweets shop that has been in the area for many, many years. Their kakigori menu features all the usual suspects, with the fresh strawberry being the most popular. Be sure to order it made with natural spring water from Yatsugatake in the Southern Alps of Japan. For only an extra Y100, you get some of the cleanest water in the country. The strawberries are only slightly sweetened, meaning this massive serving of kakigori is surprisingly easy to eat.
