Moriya Shoten
Open 10am-5pm (Su, Mo -8pm). Closed Wednesdays.
Sun: Open Sundays

A century-old butcher shop, Moriya Shoten is famous for their deep-fried croquettes, reportedly selling two thousand of them every day. They also offer a line-up of deep-fried cutlets from their take-out window - beef, tonkatsu, ham, shrimp, and chicken among them.

We particularly enjoyed the wagyu katsu - skewered tender chunks of beef with a crunchy coating and no filler. Another favorite is the ebi katsu - a plump prawn with firm, solid texture. The basic croquette has a thick, crunchy coating and is filled with a hearty mashed potato mix and a hint of beef flavoring.

Don't be put off by the line at the take-out window - it moves quickly. Be prepared to pay with cash.
