Sushi Maru
Sannomiya south: Sushi
Sushi Maru
Open 11am-9pm (LO) daily.
Sun: Open Sundays

Good-quality sushi doesn't always entail sitting at a brightly lit counter and dealing with formal service - Sushi Maru's down-to-earth setting and convenient tablet ordering system are much more relaxed. You can order a few pieces at a time as the mood strikes you, then watch it being prepared in front of you as you would at a more formal shop. They are open all day, so it's easy to drop in for a mid-afternoon sushi snack when you're passing through the area.

Most sushi is ordered by the pair, but they also put together three-piece "sets" showcasing for example three varieties of tuna or three kinds of seared fish, and these are worth checking out. Drinks include several wines by the glass as well as beer and sake.

While the shop is conveniently located close to Sannomiya's multiple subway and train stations, like anywhere else in the Sannomiya underground it can be confusing. The easiest way to find it is to go to the Basement of M-int Kobe, then follow the signs to "M Kitchen" - it's all the way down at the end, on the right.
