With its innovative juxtapositions of contrasting flavors and spices borrowed from different culinary cultures, Osaka-style "spice curry" pushes the boundaries of Japanese curry cuisine. Kyu Yamu Tetsudo embraces this tradition - their creative recipes make a strong impression, especially when experienced in multi-curry plates.
They prepare four curries on any given day, and you can choose a two-, three-, or four-curry combo platter. We'd recommend going for all four unless there are ingredients you don't like. The plate comes with two types of rice, topped with sweet pickled onions. You'll also get a small cup with a separate sauce - ours was peanut-flavored - to add to your rice later for even greater flavor variation. Drinks include plain and fruit lassis and beer.
The shop has a vaguely railway-related decor, and it's located in the basement bar-restaurant zone of Lucua, although the atmosphere feels more like a back-street kissaten. Service is friendly and efficient, and prices are very reasonable.
