One look at the dozens of colorful jars lining the counter at Spice Curry Maruse will convince you that they take the "spice" part of their name seriously. Occupying the ground floor of a quaint old wooden house, the shop is a relaxed, laid-back setting in which to enjoy their superb original curries.
At lunchtime you can order a plate with one, two or three different curries, which come with rice and a small helping of dal for contrast. The three-part combo plate includes a meaty chicken curry packing quite a bit of heat, a dry-style pork keema curry and a Thai green curry with tender bamboo shoots and fresh vegetables.
The menu expands a bit in the evenings to include a "Spiced BBQ Plate" with grilled lamb and chicken and a handful of side dishes. The drinks list features several styles of Minoh beer, a local craft brewery, plus a few imported beers.
On Wednesdays they're only open at lunchtime.
