La Peche serves solid country-style French fare, with hearty main dishes like bouillabaisse, duck a l'orange, lamb chops with merguez sausage, and beef bourguignon. Starters range from escargot and steamed mussels to foie gras terrine and capellini with uni and truffles.
At lunchtime you can enjoy an excellent (and very filling) chicken leg confit - served on a bed of white beans almost like a cassoulet and paired with a garlicky home-made sausage. Lunch specials are priced at around Y2,000, while substantial three-course dinners run around Y7,000. There's a big a la carte menu as well, if you want to assemble your own meal.
The compact wine list leans toward well-known names, and is mostly priced in the Y4,000-6,000 range. The setting is comfortable and very casual - vintage French liquor posters line the walls and French radio plays in the background. The restaurant is conveniently located very close to Kamimaezu subway station. Reservations are recommended at dinnertime.
