A popular stop on coffee-connoisseur tours of Nagoya, QOL ("Quality of Life") is a combination coffee roastery and art gallery with a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. There are usually a few different exhibits showing in the spacious upstairs cafe area, while an impressive stereo system plays low-volume R&B and hiphop.
You can choose from a variety of beans for drip coffee, or hot and cold espresso drinks like long blacks, flat whites, macchiatos, lattes and cappuccinos. Of course bags of beans are ready to take home, and coffee to go can be ordered at the take-out window. Grilled-cheese sandwiches are properly prepared, and quite stuffed with cheese.
In addition to coffee, the roastery has collaborated with local craft brewery Y Market to produce a coffee-infused beer. It is sold here in cans.
Note the relatively early 5:30pm closing time. They also run a coffee stand on the ground floor of Parco Department Store in Sakae that's open into the evening.
